Spanish Lookout is one of a few Mennonite communities. Heralding from Canada in the late 50’s the Mennonites have made several parts of Belize home and continue to provide the country with food, agriculture, engineering and other skills that were (and arguably still are) not available within the community elsewhere. We include a short drive though on some of our combination tours. You will be surprised to see that in this town it resembles more a small farming community in the mid west of the USA than Belize. There is a river crossing by hand-cranked ferry to enter the town on the way in and a road bridge on the way out.
